Metamedia

The Metamedia Archive framework, developed in the Hyperstudio at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Department of Humanities, offers a learning environment that can meet the needs of small to large humanities curricula. It provides students and faculty with the possibilities to flexibly create, annotate and share mediarich documents online for the teaching and learning of various subjects. m:media is the project’s current web application, which is entirely based on open standards.

Requires Java, Tomcat, Ant, and PostgreSQL

DSpace

DSpace is an open source software platform that enables organisations to:

•        capture and describe digital material using a submission workflow module, or a variety of programmatic ingest

  • options

•        distribute an organisation’s digital assets over the web through a search and retrieval system

•        preserve digital assets over the long term

Requires:

  • At least Java SDK 5
  • Apache Maven 2.0.8 or later
  • Apache Ant 1.6.2 or later
  • Relational Database such as PostgreSQL 7.3 or greater or Oracle
